For the Continental Round – Qualifiers, participants are divided into Contest regions, which have been established based on the number and locations of participants in previous editions of Hippo:

Event Organisation

A Continental Round will be organised where a region has at least 3,000 registrations in the 2027 edition. The highest-ranked students who have not qualified for the World Finals will be eligible to participate.

About the Continental Round - Qualifiers

Still aiming for the World Finals? The Continental Round gives the highest-ranked students who haven’t already qualified another opportunity to earn their place while experiencing international competition in person. The winner of each category at each Continental Round qualifies for the Hippo 2027 World Finals. The event celebrates talent, effort and the joy of learning in a supportive, inspiring environment.

For the 2027 edition, a Continental Round will take place in regions with at least 3,000 registrations.

Eligibility & Invitations

To be invited, you must:

Be among the top 20% in your category, within your country’s macro-region where applicable, or otherwise within your country.
Achieve at least 70% of the score of the first-ranked student in the same category and geographical group.
Score at least 50% of the maximum possible points.

Invitations are reserved for students who have not already qualified for the World Finals.

Participation & Accommodation

The participation fee covers insurance, merchandise, activities and exam materials.

For some locations, an all-inclusive package combining accommodation and participation will be available through a designated exclusive service provider. If you book your accommodation through this provider, your participation fee is included and there’s no need to pay it separately.

Students and accompanying teachers or parents cover their own travel and accommodation costs. We’ll share recommended accommodation options to help you find the right fit for your needs.

First place in your category earns you a place at the Hippo 2027 World Finals in Italy! Each Continental Round gives you another chance to reach the final stage, where students from around the world come together to test their English and celebrate their achievements.
